Man City continue to set the benchmark in the Premier League but showed some signs of vulnerability in midweek when a strong line up was held by Championship promotion hopefuls Wolves in the League Cup.
City snuck through on penalties, but there were signs there that the club could maybe need a few more players on the books to give them that real edge when it comes to competing on all fronts and winning trophies.
Our landlord here at the Tavern has been spending his time this week at the bar with some of our City fans, and one player he has mentioned to them who he thinks they should snap up is Everton and England youngster Tom Davies.
The midfielder has demonstrated a maturity beyond his 19 years so far in his career, and became a first team regular last term under Ronald Koeman, and has again featured heavily this season despite the Dutchman losing his job and Everton struggling.
City have the riches to prize Davies away, and getting one of England’s top young players through the door can only bode well for Pep Guardiola’s men if a deal could be done. Everton and City have history in terms of transfers, and City will be wary of Tom Davies becoming another Jack Rodwell signing, but the signs are so far he is far from that.
Bags of ability and unlimited potential make Davies a top target for plenty of clubs, but City might just head the queue come January.
City and Toffees fans, what do you make of Davies? Good player? Give us your thoughts in the comments!Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
