Man City nip ahead of rivals Man United in the race to sign Brazilian international

One of the most common discussion points among the Manchester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern is their right back situation.

Manchester City are set to lose both of their natural right backs this summer.

Pablo Zabaleta is calling an end to his Man City career after many years of service while former Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna is also set to leave on a free when his contract expires at the end of the season.

This season, City have watched Fernandinho and Jesus Navas fill in at right back and they will be chasing a top class player for that position in the summer.

One man who has emerged on their wishlist is Fabinho, according to The Daily Mail.

Monaco defender Fabinho is naturally a right back but can also operate in midfield and his top performances have helped guide Monaco to the Ligue 1 title this season.

The 23-year-old is also attracting interest from Manchester City’s local rivals Man United but it is believed that Pep Guardiola’s side have the upper hand in this race.

The Brazilian international could move on this summer and he fits the bill for Man City, who are also targeting a swoop for Tottenham right back Kyle Walker.
