The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern think that Pep Guardiola is on to something great at the Etihad. It has been a faultless season for the Citizens so far this term, and at present, it doesn’t look like anyone can beat them in the Premier League. Guardiola, though, seemingly has far loftier expectations than just a Premier League win, and his transfer plans reflect that.
According to the Independent, Pep Guardiola thinks that his side is capable of achieving a Premier League (PL) and UEFA Champions League (UCL) double this season, and so he’s hoping to land at least one more big signing in January in order to achieve that. The target they have in mind, according to the Independent, is Alexis Sanchez – and the club are said to be planning to make a ‘big offer’ to bring the Chilean to the Etihad.
Sanchez has enjoyed a decent season at Arsenal this term, having bagged 4 goals and earned 2 assists in the Premier League. He’s been a key player for an Arsenal side that has enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence as the season has gone on, and so it’s no real surprise that Man City are keen.
A move won’t be easy, but with Sanchez’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Citizens do have a lot of power as they look to secure a move. One thing’s certain: if they are able to land Sanchez, an already unstoppable attack will, somehow, get even better.
It’s tough to see where Sanchez would fit into the Man City attack, given that the likes of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva have all performed sensationally this term, but Sanchez isn’t a player that anyone in the Premier League will turn down.
He’s undoubtedly one of the Premier League’s best players, and it’s scary to think just how good Man City’s attack will be with him in the side too.
