The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern thought that Jesus Navas’ time at the Etihad was coming to an end…
However, according to the Sun, that may not be the case. The publication are reporting that Pep Guardiola is ready to offer the midfielder, who reportedly earns £90,000-per-week, a new one-year contract to keep him at the Etihad this summer.
Whilst Navas was rarely a feature earlier in the season, he has enjoyed somewhat of a rebirth as the season has progressed, with Pep Guardiola regularly utilising him in a more defensive role.
A powerful runner, the Spaniard has enjoyed a renaissance similar to that of Victor Moses at Chelsea, and our landlord thinks that he deserves far more credit for the job that he has done.
Certainly, his performances are deserving of a new deal, and whilst his retention might not be a particularly exciting deal for the Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern – they recognise its importance. Unlikely to be a regular next year, he will be a great rotational option for Guardiola should he a sign a deal.
Navas has made 12 Premier League appearances this season.
