The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to recapture the Premier League title this season…
The Citizens have been in somewhat of a transitional phase for the last few years, but there are signs that – under Pep Guardiola – they are coming back to life.
They enjoyed a stellar performance on the opening day, and with so many great signings being made by the club this summer, they’re in with a real chance of both domestic and continental glory.
For that to happen, though, Guardiola will want to keep his squad together and keep all of his players fully fit, and one player has found that to be a struggle since moving to the club.
Ilkay Gundogan has been out all year with an injury, but it looks as though he could be back in time for the most significant part of the season.
According to Ben Dinnery on Twitter, Gundogan has revealed his projected return date – with September currently being targeted.

This would represent a huge boost for Man City, not least because they’re short on midfield depth at present.
On his day, Gundogan is one of Europe’s best, and he will be like a new signing if Guardiola can keep him fit.
It’s vitally important that Guardiola keeps his squad fit and healthy, though that may prove difficult with Gundogan. The midfielder has been really injury prone in recent years, but if he takes it slow and Guardiola manages him wisely, there is no reason why he can’t stay healthy.
He’ll certainly be needed given how many competitions Man City will be in this season.
