Manchester City will have their sights set on chasing down Liverpool in the race of the Premier League title, with four points currently the difference.
The Citizens still have the chance to secure silverware in the Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as in the Premier League, so there’s all the more reason to strengthen this month.
But, it looks as if the Manchester club are at risk of losing one of their most promising youngsters, as according to BILD (via City Watch), Man City rejected a bid from Schalke for Rabbi Matondo recently.
Manchester City have rejected an opening bid from Schalke for Rabbi Matondo.
Interestingly, the winger is being linked with a number of Bundesliga clubs, with Bayern Munich, Borussia Monchengladbach and RB Leipzig all said to be interested.
Indeed, talks between the player and Schalke are said to have gone very well, but City have found Schalke’s initial offer unacceptable and turned it down.
And, it’s thought that if City become resigned to losing Matondo, they will seek around £10 million for him.
Rabbi Matondo has all the ingredients to become a future star but he has so far rejected new contract offers from Manchester City, so things aren’t looking promising for the Citizens.
Manchester City are under pressure to get the youngster to finally agree to sign a new deal at the Etihad, otherwise they risk losing another special talent.
Indeed, the winger has scored nine goals so far this season in the EFL Trophy, Premier League 2 and the UEFA Youth League, and he secured his first cap for the Wales senior squad back in November.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
