The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to sign a few defenders this summer…
It looks like they could be about to get their wish, too, with the Daily Star reporting that the club are hopeful of sealing a deal for Tottenham ace Kyle Walker this summer. According to the Daily Star, Man City are confident that they will complete a deal over the next few weeks, with the club reportedly willing to meet Tottenham’s asking price of £40 million.
A talented defender, Walker lost his place in the Tottenham first team towards the end of the 2016/17 season, and so a departure has been widely expected amongst the fans in the Transfer Tavern.
It seems as though Man City will be looking to take advantage of the situation, and it is easy to see why. The club have undergone a bit of transformation already this summer, with Bernardo Silva coming in and several players set to leave, with a number of defenders departing the club upon the expiry of their contracts this summer. Notable examples include Gael Clichy and Pablo Zabaleta, with Walker likely coming in as a permanent replacement for the latter on the right-hand side of the Man City defence.
For Walker’s part, his offensive, pacey and direct running down the right-hand side will likely align perfectly with Pep Guardiola, making this situation a win for everybody involved – including Tottenham, who could be about to pick up a £40 million windfall.
