The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are very excited at the prospect of Dani Alves moving to the Etihad this summer…
The Brazilian defender has had a storied career, with stints at clubs like Barcelona and Juventus in recent years, and according to the Sun, his next path could take him to Manchester.
A move that has been touted frequently in the Transfer Tavern amongst supporters in recent weeks, the Sun are now reporting that Man City are closing in on a deal for Alves – with the club said to be ‘confident’ that a deal will happen this week.
Man City, of course, are in real need of a defensive rebuild this summer – with Guardiola likely keen to replace the likes of Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy – both of whom won’t be at the club next season due to the expiry of their deals at the Etihad. They have been long-standing members of the Man City first team, and so won’t be easy to replace – but Alves could well fit the bill perfectly.
Unlike many of Man City’s starters, the Brazilian is coming off the back of a remarkable few years, with a trophy-laden spell at Barcelona and a decent spell at Juventus behind him. Whilst he is ageing and is no longer at his peak, there is no doubting that he’ll be able to make an impact for the Citizens.
