The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern were disappointed with their side’s performance against Everton on Monday…
The Sky Blues struggled to a 1-1 draw with the Toffees, with a late Raheem Sterling goal saving face for Pep Guardiola and his team.
As has been the case for the last few years, Man City looked relatively poor defensively, with a lack of consistency really plaguing their back-line.
Clearly, then, something needs to be done, and one way of fixing the problem could be to sign an experienced defensive veteran to sure up Guardiola’s team.
According to ESPN FC, they are looking to do just that, with Man City reportedly set to launch another move for West Brom defender Jonny Evans, with Pep Guardiola said to be confident that he will get his man.
Evans, despite not carrying the star power of some of Man City’s more recent sigings, is a solid defender with years of experience behind him – and so a move does make sense.
Having already had a move rejected, Guardiola doesn’t look ready to give up, though they must be careful not to overpay for Evans.
Despite news of this interest not going down well amongst the fans in the Transfer Tavern, it must be noted that Evans is a very accomplished defender.
He is a multi-time Premier League winner stemming back to his stint with Man Utd, and that definitely counts for something.
The Northern Irishman has really developed as a player whilst at West Brom, and so a move back to a top side would be a natural progression.
