The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are loving life at the moment. It has been a sensational start to the season for the Citizens, and whilst there is a long way to go this season, you would be hard-pressed to find a single fan in the pub that isn’t backing them for the title.
Pep Guardiola has already earned legendary status amongst Man City fans for the way that he has transformed his team, and so the latest news emanating from the Daily Mail is likely only going to generate more delight amongst fans. According to the Daily Mail, Man City are expecting ‘smooth’ talks with Guardiola next summer regarding the prospect of a new deal. With all parties said to be keen to extend their partnership, a new contract seems likely, though discussions before the end of the season are not said to be expected.
Guardiola, of course, certainly deserves the chance to extend his stay, with his club impressing this term. Last season was one of transition for the club, and the fruits of Guardiola’s labour over the last 12 months are finally coming to fruition this term.
His career thus far has been characterised by short-term stays, and whilst any new deal that he signs is unlikely to be for more than a year or two, his happiness in Manchester bodes very well for the future.
In truth, Man City would likely find it impossible to secure anyone quite as good as Pep Guardiola, and so this is a move that makes sense on their part.
Judging by this report, at least, it doesn’t seem likely that talks will be tough, and so the fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that this will go off without a hitch.
