The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to a summer of change at the Etihad...
Pep Guardiola’s side struggled last season, despite a strong start, and with the Spaniard likely going to be tasked with winning trophies next season – a few big changes are needed on the field.
That process has already started, of course, with the signing of Bernardo Silva, and according to the Mirror, the Citizens are considering making another move – this time for a Premier League player. The Mirror are reporting that Man City are considering a move for Ryan Bertrand this summer, with the Citizens keen to improve their backline. Interestingly, it is noted that both Chelsea and Liverpool are also keen – making it seem as though there could be a race on for the Englishman this summer.
Bertrand, of course, has emerged as one of the Premier League’s best defenders since moving to St Mary’s, leading the Chelsea fans in the pub to rue their side’s decision to let him go. A solid option at the back with real offensive quality, Bertrand would undoubtedly improve Man City’s defence – with Gael Clichy set to leave the club on a free this summer upon the expiry of his contract.
Bertrand made 28 Premier League starts last season, and impressed throughout the campaign.
