The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are feeling pretty good at the moment…
It has been a fantastic start to the season for the club, and with Pep Guardiola at the helm, anything is possible this term.
Everyone in the Man City first team has looked good this season, and that will likely have delighted the Etihad brass. However, one player that has impressed more than most is David Silva, and now the Spaniard be on course for a reward.
According to the Daily Mail, Silva is on the verge of extending his deal at Man City after a breakthrough was made in talks with the Spaniard. An agreement could be on the horizon, with the club said to be confident that Silva will sign on.
Retaining Silva would, of course, be a massive boost for the Sky Blues, with the Spaniard continuing to impress in the heart of the midfield. Despite his age, he seems to be getting better and better, with his consistent performances keeping pace with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling in the midfield.
He has made 6 assists in just 7 Premier League games this season, which is a level that he has managed to maintain for much of his career.
His current deal expires in 2019.
Silva is a crucial player, and so it makes sense to extend his stay in Manchester.
At 31-years-old, he still has a lot in the tank, and there’s no reason why he can’t keep competing at the highest level for a few years yet.
