The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have been impressed with Yaya Toure this season, with the Ivorian impressing under Pep Guardiola…
Despite not being a favourite under the Spaniard earlier in the campaign, it appears as though even Guardiola has been impressed – with the Sun reporting that the Ivorian could be offered a new contract at the Etihad. Seemingly having been impressed with his performances, it is said that Toure, who reportedly earns £220,000-per-week, could be given a new deal by Guardiola on the condition that Man City finish in the top four.
Certainly, a deal for Toure makes a lot of sense. The midfielder is unique in that he is a strong, agile powerhouse in the heart of the midfield. Though the majority Man City’s squad is focused around quick, technical stars, Toure offers something different – and so it certainly makes sense for the club to keep him around for a while longer, albeit as a rotational figure.
The good news for the Citizens is that their destiny is still in their hands, with a top-four finish still looking likely. Provided that the club keep pace with the teams around them, our landlord doesn’t think that the club will have a problem reaching the top four.
Man City still need to play West Brom and Watford this season.
