Our resident Manchester City fans in the Tavern may have been disappointed by reports that they are not set to make a major signing this month but their mood has soon been improved after the Manchester Evening News claimed that the club have renewed their interested in Edinson Cavani.
The Uruguayan striker is reported to have alerted the Blues over a potential summer transfer after making it clear that he is unhappy at his current side Paris Saint-Germain.
The 28-year old was linked with a move to the Etihad when he departed Napoli for the French outfit back in 2013. Cavani has started 14 matches in Ligue 1 this term, scoring 10 goals and claiming 2 assists.
However, the forward was on the bench as PSG beat Toulouse at the weekend And Le Parisien journalist Ronan Folgoas believes he will agitate for a move in the summer, saying:
“Cavani himself wanted to leave at the end of last season but the club closed the door. This time, both sides seem a little tired and Cavani is still not happy.”
Our landlord believes that another move to bring Cavani into City’s squad would be useful for improving the squad depth, especially with Wilfried Bony failing to get into most of the club’s supporters’ good books when given the opportunity.
