The Man City, Arsenal and Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern all want their sides to land this Benfica star…
The transfer window might be over, but some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League are seemingly already looking towards January.
The top clubs in England have each endured varying levels of success since the season began. Man City are flying at the top of the table, whilst Arsenal and Man Utd have intermittently struggled thus far.
With each club desperate to improve, talk has already begun in the Tavern over who might be coming to the Premier League in the January transfer window – and it would appear that a trio of Premier League clubs are chasing one player in particular.
According to MaisFutebol, Arsenal, Man United and Man City all sent scouts to watch Benfica star Alex Grimaldo on Monday amidst reported interest in the defender.
Interestingly, they add that whilst Arsenal and Man Utd officially sent scouts – Man City’s mission was slightly less high profile.
They report that Pep Guardiola bought tickets “informally” in order to watch the youngster incognito.
Interestingly, Guardiola is well aware of the defender, given that he was at Barcelona when the Spaniard was in charge.
However, given that a variety of clubs are seemingly interested – our landlord thinks that any fee for the defender could go through the roof.
Could Guardiola’s relationship with Grimaldo help him? The Manchester City faithful in the Tavern certainly think so.
Check out this short compilation video detailing some of Grimaldo’s best bits in recent years…
