Manchester City fans all around the Tavern will be returning glumly to the bar in order to down their sorrows after being told informed that a dream transfer will be not be completed.
The Blues were interested in signing the Spaniard on loan this month in a deal that would include the option of making the move permanent in the summer, as links with an Etihad switch resurfaced after Isco had fallen out of favour under recently sacked Madrid manager Rafa Benitez.
New manager Zinedine Zidane, who was influential in convincing Isco to reject City’s advances for Real Madrid in 2012, is now stated to have persuaded Isco to remain in the Spanish capital after crunch-talks on his future.
Italian giants Juventus were also keeping tabs on Isco, who wants more regular game-time ahead of Spain’s European Championship campaign at the end of the season. Zidane’s made his mark though, with Isco starting Zidane’s first game in charge this weekend.
The news will be music to the ears of 28-year old Samir Nasri, who was set to be removed from the Blues’ Premier League squad with the club already filling their quote of foreign players.
However, our landlord thinks that City fans would have preferred to see a young player like Isco playing in their team over the Frenchman, who is currently out until at least March due to a tendon problem in his right leg.
Manchester City fans, how disappointed are you at missing out on signing Isco for the second time? Let us know in the comments below!
