The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern were expecting big things from Nolito last summer…
Brought in early by Pep Guardiola, he was seen as a reliable hand for the Spanish manager, and he did deliver on that expectation early on in the season. A regular starter at that point, Nolito was a workhorse in the Man City attack, impressing both defensively and offensively.
However, as quickly as his career in England had begun, it seemingly came to an end, with the Spaniard very rarely featuring during the second-half of the season.
Now, it seems as though his time in England could be coming to an end, with the Daily Mail reporting that Man City are edging closer to securing a deal for him. According to the Daily Mail, Nolito has arrived in Spain ahead of a proposed season-long loan move to Sevilla, with the player himself reportedly keen to seal the deal.
Indeed, it has been a disappointing end to his tale in Manchester, though it was always going to be tough for the Spaniard to impress long-term. Man City are a side that are blessed with offensive depth, and with players like Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and now Bernardo Silva – Nolito was always unlikely to feature much next season.
Our landlord is expecting a few more players to join Man City this summer, with Ryan Bertrand the latest player to be linked with a move.
