Man City fans are drinking in the Transfer Tavern today and despite their club’s money, even they think this transfer would be too much.
Reports from ESPN UK have revealed that Pep Guardiola is ready to outbid Real Madrid for teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe’s signature.
The report suggests that Manchester City are readying a bid of £160 million for the teenager’s services.
Unsurprisingly, our landlord thinks that would be the most ridiculous transfer in the history of football.
Mbappe burst onto the scene last season during Monaco’s league title winning season.
One good season is not enough to warrant that valuation by City if the rumours are true.
Guardiola also has one of the best front lines in Europe at his disposal with Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero all at his disposal.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has no need for Mbappe at Man City right now, especially if he would have to pay nearly double the world record amount for a player.
City should save their money and allow Real Madrid to bring the French teenager to their club because there is no guarantee he will be able to replicate this past season again.
He is unproven on a consistent basis, he could have just had a great first season and then burn out.
Mbappe is too much of a risk right now, so our landlord urges the Manchester outfit to save £160 million to spend on players who are proven to be able to add to your side.
