Manchester City are already making big moves in the transfer window, and we have not even entered July yet, as Pep Guardiola looks to overhaul his squad for next season.
Armed with the biggest spending power in the league, City have already added Bernardo Silva and goalkeeper Ederson to the ranks, and City fans here in the Tavern are already salivating at the prospect of what their squad could look like come August.
Our landlord agrees with the thoughts of the fans, and he thinks that Guardiola is far from done in terms of adding new faces to the squad. More young players will need to be added, and one player who has jumped to mind is Real Madrid star Marco Asensio.
The 21-year-old has had a superb campaign as one of the back up cast to Madrid’s all star line-up, but this by no means means he isn’t good enough, he is simply developing his game and biding his time.
However, a move to a club like City, where they would utilise him as one of their main men, could well be the making of the Spaniard.
Asensio has bags of ability on the ball, and possesses a surprising turn of pace when he gets motoring with the ball at his feet. His finishing is top draw, and he is the perfect age to continue his development and turn himself into a real world class performer.
He would no doubt cost a fair few quid, but rest assured, he would be a superb long term asset to City.
