With Manchester City spending big this summer, many will be expecting them to romp home to the Premier League title ahead of their rivals.
Pep Guardiola has set his sights on success this season after coming up short in his first season over in England. He will be hoping his expensive signings, especially with his defensive recruitments, can see him guide the club to the league title once again.
The City fans here in the Tavern are in a confident mood heading into the 2017/18 season though, and rightly so. Our landlord has been spending some time with them over by the jukebox this week, getting their thoughts on just who Pep might look to get through the door before August is out.
One player who he dropped into conversation this week is French star and AS Monaco player Thomas Lemar.
The 21-year-old midfielder had an excellent campaign last season for both club and country and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is a known admirer of the classy Frenchman.
Lemar looks to have all the attributes to become a top, top player, and there will no doubt be a plethora of clubs interested in his signature before we see the current window come to and end.
Blessed with bags of energy and excellent on the ball, Lemar would add some real bite and youthfulness to a City midfield which already possesses bags of ability.
City fans, what do you think? Would you take Lemar? Let us know!
