Manchester City are looking like they are going to make a real go of it next season, with signings already through the door at the Etihad.
The blue half of Manchester is after reclaiming its Premier League title, and the board clearly see Pep Guardiola as the man who can lead them to success.
This confidence is resonating with the City fans here in the Tavern, and they are getting ever confident as the summer moves along. Our landlord thinks that with the signings already made, and a few more quality additions, City could really challenge across all fronts next season.
One man he has mentioned this week with regards to a potential new signing is current Juventus star Miralem Pjanic. The Bosnian midfield general has been in superb form for the Turin giants ever since securing a move to the club from Roma, and was instrumental in last year’s success.
If City are lacking anything, it’s someone who’s natural position is to simply operate in the middle of the park, not too advanced, but not too defensive in equal measure.
Pjanic may have only been with Juventus for around a year, but money talks in football, and Man City have plenty of it. Pep Guardiola has always prided his teams on having a top quality ball manipulator in the middle, and Pjanic fits this mould perfectly.
He would be a world class signing, and at 27, would still have his best years ahead of him to offer the Manchester club.
