Manchester City fans have been busy trying to work out what their starting line-up could look like next season but one player that doesn’t look like being in it is David Alaba, as per the Manchester Evening News.
Incoming manager Pep Guardiola has got City fans here in the Tavern in a state of frenzy about which of the world’s best players will be gracing the Etihad next season.
They can dream, of course, but one player that Guardiola would have hoped to bring to the Premier League with him looks like he is now staying in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.
The Austrian left-back David Alaba looks set to sign a new contract at Bayern for the next five years and that will come as a big blow for City with Guardiola knowing what an important player he has been for him.
Alaba has been with Bayern since 2009 and has made more than 200 appearances for them and at only 23 years old, he has many years ahead of him at the top level.
He has been a key player for Guardiola’s side in recent seasons and City fans were starting to get excited that he could be moving to them in the summer.
Regarded as one of the best left-backs in Europe at the minute, City fans are rightly disappointed at the news but they are unlikely to be drowing their sorrows for too long as no doubt more rumours will surface in the coming weeks.
