The Manchester City fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern will be hoping that he’ll be back sooner rather than later…
The Man City fans strolled into the Football Transfer Tavern still grinning after their derby win against Manchester United over the weekend – but that smile has been firmly wiped off their faces now.
In what could prove a crushing blow, one of Pep Guardiola’s summer signings could be set for an extended injury lay-off.
Gabriel Jesus was reportedly stretchered off during a game in his native Brazil, whilst playing for Palmeiras.
This will come as worrying news to the Manchester City faithful in the Tavern, given that he was set to link up with his new team-mates in January.
Manchester Evening News are reporting that he has suffered an injury to the groin, which could mean a matter of days, to weeks, to months out.
The Manchester City fans in the Tavern will no doubt be crossing their fingers hoping he will be back well in advance ahead of his arrival in Manchester.
Whilst very little is known of him in England, Gabriel Jesus’ signing has brought with it a dose of excitement to everyone here in the Tavern, with the young Brazilian drawing a number of parallels with compatriot Neymar.
Technically gifted, with a few tricks up his sleeve, Jesus could prove to be a real hit in the Premier League next season.
Just in case you needed any more convincing, take a look at this compilation video to show just how good he is.
Our landlord is backing him to be a success at Manchester City, as long as this injury doesn’t cause a long-term problem.
