Our resident Manchester City fans have come back to the Transfer Tavern today following a frustrating 0-0 draw against Norwich at the weekend and have been left thinking about what could be next season, after The Daily Mail reported that the Blues are eyeing up Leonardo Bonucci.
The Juventus central defender was recently picked out by Pep Guardiola as one of his ‘favourite ever players’ and the City punters by the darts board believe that he could be playing under the Spanish coach next season at the Etihad Stadium.
City have spent vast amounts on defenders in recent years, but have failed to form a formidable partnership at the back, with Martin Demichelis and Eliaquim Mangala expected to depart in the summer.
Although his contract does not expire until 2020, Italian defender Bonucci turns 29 this year and word around the Tavern suggests that Juventus would sell if City fork out around £25 million.
Bonucci would be a great addition to the City squad and our landlord thinks that his experience could be vital for the Citizens next term.
Manchester City fans, would you like to see Bonucci join this summer? Let us know in the comments below!
