The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern have one overarching concern about their team this season…
Offensively, the Citizens have been unstoppable. The likes of De Bruyne and Aguero have found new lease on life under Pep Guardiola, and things are looking rosy in that regard – but issues behind the deadly duo are beginning to cause problems for the Spanish boss.
Defensively, Man City have been shaky at best – and a number of individual mistakes have cost the Citizens on a number of occasions this season.
John Stones has faced the brunt of the criticism, yet nobody in the Man City back line has covered themselves in glory – and that will be a serious concern for Pep Guardiola.
It isn’t all bad news for the City fans in the Transfer Tavern, though, as it would appear that their manager has a plan.
According to AS, Man City are set to rival Barcelona for breakout Bundesliga star Julian Weigl – who has been seriously impressive for Borussia Dortmund this season.
AS suggest that Barcelona see him as the next Busquets, which should go a long way in describing the sort of player he is – and what qualities he would bring to the disappointing Man City midfield.
Our landlord thinks that Weigl, though young and inexperienced, could be the perfect solution for Man City for the present and the future – and he could even be the final piece of an intriguing puzzle at the Etihad.
