Man City transfer decision could see 30-year-old remain at the club this season

The Man City fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted with their side’s summer business…

Some big names have moved to the Etihad over the last few months, with Benjamin Mendy and Kyle Walker coming in to strengthen the defence and Bernardo Silva being brought in to spearhead the midfield going forward. Elsewhere, Danilo and Ederson will improve Guardiola’s options considerably, whilst young Douglas Luiz has the potential to be a future star.

There have been a number of outgoings, too, with that of Kelechi Iheanacho perhaps the most significant.

One player that could be set to stay at Man City – against the wishes of Pep Guardiola – though, is midfielder Samir Nasri. According to the Telegraph, Man City’s decision to demand as much as £15 million for the midfielder has facilitated a lack of interest in the Frenchman, and unless an opportunity arises. he could end up being stuck at the Etihad.

This is clearly a situation that all parties would want to avoid, with Nasri unlikely to feature for Pep Guardiola and the Citizens keen to get him off the books.

However, unless they change their mind, that doesn’t look like a likely conclusion.

Nasri made 22 league starts in La Liga last season.

Landlord’s Verdict

At 30-years-old and without a real role in the squad, Man City are asking a lot to be demanding £10-15 million for the midfielder. Sure, on his day he is great, but his form in recent years has been a real mixed bag.

Still, the club don’t want to get rid of him for nothing, so there is money to be made. They may have to be slightly wiser and drop the asking price for that to happen, though.

He’s still a decent player, and could do a job as a backup option, but in an ideal world, a sale makes sense.
