The Daily Mail seem to contain all the gossip today here in the Football Transfer Tavern and Manchester City fans have finally got their turn to comment on the latest rumours to hit the bar.
After completing the signing of Wilfried Bony from Swansea City earlier today, reports also claim the Citizens have set their sights on another Premier League striker – Jay Rodriguez.
The Southampton star, who has also been watched by Tottenham Hotspur and obviously Liverpool, is believed to be rated at around £20 million this January transfer window.
As one of our punters notes, Rodriguez would probably have got his big move away from St Mary’s in the summer had he not succumbed to injury ironically at the Etihad Stadium last term.
After seeing Alvaro Negredo depart on loan at the start of the season, City are now willing to allow Stevan Jovetic to leave in order to bring in another forward to add to their ranks.
It seems that the Saints man is the one they have set their sights on, not that Ronald Koeman would be willing to let him leave considering the Saints are making a good push for a top four finish and could do with his services upon his return.
Manchester City fans. You’ve secured a switch for Bony but is Jay Rodriguez really good enough to perform at the very highest level? Let us know your thoughts below.
