Man City would smash Europe to bits if they could pull off £81m-rated transfer swoop

Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited to see who their club will sign now the summer transfer window is officially open.

City cruised to the Premier League title, finishing 19 points ahead of rivals Manchester United in second and becoming the first team to gain over 100 points in Premier League history. They also lifted the Carabao Cup, but Pep Guardiola still isn’t completely happy with his squad. The Spaniard is hoping to add two major signings in the transfer window.

According to reports in Germany, Robert Lewandowski has announced his intentions to leave Bayern Munich. His agent, Pini Zahavi, told BILD that the Pole feels he needs a new challenge and a change in his career. Since joining from Borussia Dortmund, he has lifted a trophy in every season with Munich but could not be set to depart.

Valued at £81m by Transfermarkt, the 29-year-old would be an excellent signing for Manchester City as they look to add their first Champions League trophy to their cabinet. Lewandowski has finished as the top scorer in the Bundesliga in two of the last three seasons, bagging 29 goals in just 30 appearances this term. A world-class finisher, he would set the Premier League alight.

Sergio Aguero’s future at the club remains uncertain after falling down the pecking order with Gabriel Jesus preferred. The Brazilian is a quality forward but doesn’t score consistently enough for City to be challenging for the Champions League.

Signing Lewandowski would solidify their grasp on the Premier League trophy and fire them to European glory.
