Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing one of their finest up and coming talents, giving their view on reports that he’s set to earn himself a tasty bonus.
The Daily Star says Jesse Lingard will pocket a £50,000 bonus after being called-up for the England squad, where he could make his debut this evening in a friendly with France that’s been overshadowed by the atrocious scenes in Paris on Friday evening.
Despite the terror attacks that rocked Europe, and football after the clash between France and Germany at the Stade De France was targeted, the friendly fixture at Wembley this evening will take place to show solidarity.
United starlet Lingard is in-line to make his Three Lions debut after being drafted into Roy Hodgson’s squad to replaced injured club team-mate Michael Carrick.
Louis Van Gaal urged Hodgson to keep his hands off Lingard, who he clearly felt isn’t ready for the challenge of senior international football, but the former Liverpool boss defied those demands and Lingard will have a huge financial boost because of it.
Fans at the bar are hopeful Lingard comes through unscathed but don’t agree with Van Gaal’s demands, as they feel experience at international level can only help the 22-year-old’s development.
Should Lingard start for England tonight? Will he be on the plane for Euro 2016? Let us know in the comments below!
