Rasmus Højlund was the hero over the weekend as Manchester United salvaged a late point against Bournemouth at Dean Court in a tense Premier League clash.

Bournemouth took the lead in the 23rd minute through a superb strike from Antoine Semenyo. The Ghanaian thumped in a clever touch from Evanilson, sending the ball into his path from inside the penalty box.

Though the Cherries dominated much of the match, the tide turned in the 70th minute when Evanilson, after a VAR review, was shown a red card for a challenge on Noussair Mazraoui. Many criticized the decision as harsh, given the Brazilian simply slipped into the United full-back.

With Bournemouth reduced to 10 men, United made their numerical advantage count, with Højlund tapping in Manuel Ugarte’s shot-cum-pass from close range in nearly the last kick of the game.

Despite Højlund’s late heroics, the season has been a tough one for the Danish striker, whose goal against Bournemouth was only his fourth in the Premier League this season.

With the summer transfer window fast approaching, it’s believed that United’s number one priority will be to sign a new striker, with Ruben Amorim desperate for more goals to help propel his side further up the table next term.

According to TuttoJuve, United and Amorim’s top target is Napoli striker Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian is currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray but is expected to leave Istanbul at the end of the season.

With a return to Napoli ruled out and Chelsea also out of the running, United have reportedly agreed to trigger Osimhen’s £51 million release clause.

TuttoJuve also claims that United are prepared to offer Osimhen an annual salary of £12.75 million, a figure that hindered a potential move to Chelsea last summer.

Osimhen, who led Napoli to a historic Serie A title in 2022/23 and has been hailed as “fantastic” and “one of the world’s best” strikers by teammate Álvaro Morata, has netted 31 goals in all competitions for Galatasaray this season.

This form has not only put Galatasaray on course for a league and cup double but also reaffirmed Osimhen as one of Europe’s deadliest strikers. Given his impressive record, he could be the upgrade United desperately need — one that would certainly boost their chances for the future.
