Man United already scouting La Liga man ahead of summer transfer window – Report

Manchester United fans here in the Tavern are delighted after Super Sunday’s 2-1 win over Chelsea, as they made huge strides in securing a top-four place.

The Red Devils brushed aside any cobwebs from midweek’s 0-0 draw against Sevilla in yesterday’s encounter, as Jose Mourinho’s men came from a goal down to inflict a 2-1 defeat on Chelsea. Therefore, with a Champions League spot now looking more likely for the Manchester club, it’s caused for United to look towards the summer transfer window. Indeed, according to reports in the Mail Online, Manchester United are monitoring Real Sociedad defender Alvaro Odriozola as they weigh up a summer move.

The Spanish club are believed to value the defender at £18 million, a price that doesn’t seem too unreasonable when you consider the inflation rate in football nowadays. But, there is competition for the Red Devils in their pursuit of the Spaniard, as Barcelona and Real Madrid have been keeping a watchful eye on the progression of the starlet over the past year.

United sent a scout out to watch the youngster perform for Sociedad against Red Bull Salzburg in the Europa League last Thursday, but having scored in the first-leg he wasn’t able to help his side avoid a 4-3 aggregate defeat. Still, the 22-year-old has been capped twice by the Spanish national side, something that highlights the quality that the right-back already possesses.

And, with Mourinho seeking defensive reinforcements in the summer transfer window, recruiting the Sociedad defender could finally see a replacement brought in for the ineffective Matteo Darmian.

Landlord’s Verdict:

The Spaniard looks to be an exciting prospect with lots of progression still to be had, but would most definitely be a handy addition to a United side that’s struggling for quality cover at right-back. Although, the attention that’s filtering in from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona may prove dangerous, as a move to one of the biggest clubs in his home country could be a too bigger opportunity to turn down.
