Manchester United and Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern have found support for one another during this difficult season for both clubs but that relationship has now soured with the latest news they’re hearing.
The Daily Mail indicates both Premier League giants are targeting a summer move for Atletico Madrid’s quality striker Antoine Griezmann, with the French forward netting 30 goals for club and country this season.
Griezmann has attracted British interest ever since his days at Real Sociedad but his stock has risen since making the move to the Vicente Calderon after the 2014 World Cup, where he’s established himself as one of the finest forwards in the European game.
However, sources close to the 25-year-old indicate he’s not ready for a move to England and would struggle with the physicality in the Premier League.
With Atletico also guaranteed Champions League football for next season, prizing Griezmann away from the club this summer will prove to be difficult in any case and Atletico themselves would command a hefty fee for his services.
Our landlord feels it’s only a matter of time before Griezmann does test himself in England though, stating Chelsea would be the favourites due to their close relationship with Atletico.
