Our resident Manchester United and Chelsea supporting punters here inside the Football Transfer Tavern are in good spirits, with the Easter bank holiday fast approaching!
The news coming into the pub today from Italian outlet CalcioMercato has made them all stand up and take notice, with the publication suggesting that United and Chelsea are seriously considering triggering Gonzalo Higuain’s £74 million release clause.
The Napoli frontman has been in fantastic form for the Serie A side this season, having notched a whopping 31 goals this campaign, and it seems that the Premier League duo are keen on bolstering their respective strikeforces for the new season.
Our landlord cannot believe the £74m fee that is being bandied around, and thinks that is a ludicrous amount of money to fork out on a 28-year-old, who realistically only has a handful of seasons of his prime left!
The United fans over by the dartboard here in the Tavern argue that they need the Argentinian striker more than Chelsea, with the club currently relying on 18-year-old Marcus Rashford to score the goals!
United/Chelsea fans….. Would you like to see this 31-goal striker at your club? Is £74m too much money? Let us know below!
