Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are debating whether one England international has a future at the club, after hearing the player has been called into crunch talks with their new boss.
The Sun states Jose Mourinho has called Phil Jones for talks regarding the player’s future, after his involvement at Manchester United was thrown into doubt following the £30m addition of Eric Bailly from Villarreal.
Jones, who already stood behind Daley Blind and Chris Smalling in the pecking order, has seen his standing within the squad drop further with Mourinho’s first signing for the Red Devils and could therefore be on his way out.
Having made just seven appearances last term, with four separate injuries affecting his involvement, it’s beginning to look bleak for Jones. However, his versatility and willingness to play at right-back could provide his saving grace.
Jones has now spent five-years at Manchester United since joining from Blackburn Rovers in 2011 and our landlord feels he still has something to offer Mourinho’s side.
United fans, should Jones stay or be axed? Let us know in the comments below!
