Man United boss on brink of quitting after another defeat

vangaal0Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern were furious over the weekend after another home defeat, with Charlie Austin’s debut goal clinching a narrow victory for Southampton, and the fans by the pool table this morning have condemned their out-of-sorts manager.

It seems that Louis Van Gaal is also fed up, as The Sun report today that the Dutch boss is on the brink of quitting his position as Manchester United manager.

Van Gaal was booed off on Saturday afternoon in the wake of another disappointing result for the Red Devils and it’s believed he held talks regarding his future with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

The Dutchman’s comments after the defeat also hinted towards him stepping aside, as he was clearly upset with the latest result. He told reporters:

“I’m very disappointed that I cannot reach the expectations of the fans.  They have — or they had — great expectations of me and I cannot fulfil them. So I am very frustrated because of that.”

64-year-old Van Gaal has spent £250m since taking charge of the Red Devils 18 months ago but he’s failed to improve the fortunes of United, who were knocked-out of the Champions League in the group stages and look increasingly unlikely to land a top-four finish this term.

Our landlord believes Van Gaal’s exit is inevitable and that fans should brace themselves for imminent changes.

United fans, should Van Gaal be axed? Let us know in the comments below!
