Man United break yet another record

The Man Utd fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are quickly getting their own back on the claims that they overpaid for Paul Pogba…

Manchester United might have spent millions upon millions over the summer – but they haven’t even made a dent in their finances!

The club have today announced (via ESPN) a record-breaking revenue stream for the 2015/16 season, with the club becoming the first UK side to break the £500 million mark.

The exact figure touted by is £515.3million, pushing them well beyond even their own expectations.

Significantly, £68m of that is profit – which is particularly interesting given United’s failure to qualify for the Champions League this season and their failure to progress in the competition last season.

Importantly, the data comes from the financial year ending in June 2016; meaning that a number of key deals, including that of Paul Pogba, fall after that date.

Our landlord is hugely impressed with these figures; especially considering the fact that United haven’t had the most successful few years.

He thinks that if Jose Mourinho can undergo a period of success in Manchester; they could very quickly move even closer to that £1 billion mark.

The United fans are looking at it on a more basic level; they think that the huge revenue stream should lead to more quality signings next season.

They’re backing their club to break the transfer record yet again, especially if a good season comes along this year!

They’ve definitely made a good start, with 3 wins in 4.

It is definitely an exciting time to be a United fan.

Man Utd fans – we want to hear from you! Will Jose win the league this year?
