Manchester United and England fans alike have let out a large groan in the Transfer Tavern today, as it appears the Three Lions injury curse before a major tournament has reared it’s ugly head again.
Rooney has been out of action with a knee injury since United’s 2-1 loss to Sunderland in mid-February and the initial extent of the injury was around six weeks, with England’s leading goalscorer looking set for a return in April.
A brace is currently being used to support Rooney’s injury but if that doesn’t work as planned, the forward will have to go under the knife– which would prove to be a major blow for United’s aims this season and England’s tournament hopes.
Our landlord controversially feels this could be a blessing in disguise though, as he’d prefer to play Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy ahead of the record goalscorer.
