Man United captain set to miss European Championships this summer

Rooney 4Manchester United and England fans alike have let out a large groan in the Transfer Tavern today, as it appears the Three Lions injury curse before a major tournament has reared it’s ugly head again.

The Daily Express states the currently crocked Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney could miss this summer’s tournament in France, as the veteran forward may require surgery.

Rooney has been out of action with a knee injury since United’s 2-1 loss to Sunderland in mid-February and the initial extent of the injury was around six weeks, with England’s leading goalscorer looking set for a return in April.

A brace is currently being used to support Rooney’s injury but if that doesn’t work as planned, the forward will have to go under the knife– which would prove to be a major blow for United’s aims this season and England’s tournament hopes.

Our landlord controversially feels this could be a blessing in disguise though, as he’d prefer to play Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy ahead of the record goalscorer.
