Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been handed the perfect side order to go with their burgers this evening, as it’s suggested the Red Devils are in-line for an astonishing acquisition.
Spanish newspaper Marca state Real Madrid are ready to approve the sale of James Rodriguez this summer, with the Colombian falling out of favour this season and being booed off at the weekend.
The 24-year-old arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu following his astonishing breakthrough at the 2014 World Cup, where he finished top-scorer, and he was a crucial asset during his first season in La Liga.
However, the situation has now changed and Marca state Rodriguez ‘surely will star in one of the biggest transfers of the summer’. With a deal likely to cost upwards of £63m, it could be the landmark signing Ed Woodward is crying out for.
A possible problem for United though is the potential lack of Champions League football, whilst a number of European sides could enter the market for Rodriguez should his signature become available.
