Man United ‘complete signing’ of international captain

UnitedManchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have quickly gathered around our Irish football expert to hear about a deal the Red Devils have reportedly got over the line.

The Irish Independent state Manchester United have snapped-up the signature of highly-rated young midfielder Lee O’Connor.

15-year-old O’Connor is considered to be the brightest prospect in Irish football having already represented his nation at U16 and U17 level, with the teenager the captain of the former.

An attacking full-back who has been likened to Everton’s Seamus Coleman, O’Connor will join-up with Nicky Butt’s academy side at Manchester United over the summer to begin full-time training ahead of what should be an excellent career.

It’s a significant moment for Irish football too, as he’s the first Waterford-born player brought to Old Trafford since fellow defender John O’Shea joined in 1998.

Whilst he won’t provide an immediate boost to the first-team, O’Connor is definitely one to keep your eyes on in the future and fans should be confident that he’ll thrive, given the wealth of talent United have developed over the years.
