Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern enjoyed a good weekend of Premier League results and they’ve now raised their glasses in approval of their side’s reported interest in one of Europe’s deadliest finishers.
The Daily Mirror states Louis Van Gaal have sent scouts to watch Napoli’s Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain in action recently, as he eyes a potential swoop for the South American hitman during the summer’s transfer window.
Higuain has scored 32 goals for Napoli this season across all competitions and he stands behind just Luis Suarez, Cristiano Ronaldo and Benfica’s Jonas in the hunt for the coveted European Golden Shoe award, which is awarded to the highest scorer across European football.
However, luring Higuain to the Premier League could prove to be difficult as the 28-year-old has a mammoth £75m release-clause injected into his contract with the Serie A’s Champions League chasing outfit.
The club also look set for a top-three finish in Serie A, which would award them a spot in Europe’s elite competition, whilst Manchester United face a stern test to beat Manchester City and West Ham to a top-four spot.
