Manchester United fans hoping for a big-name defensive signing to be made in the close season have received a boost, as one reported target has revealed he’s honoured to be linked to the Red Devils.
The Manchester Evening News states Wolfsburg’s veteran Brazilian defender Naldo is honoured by reports that Manchester United are interested in his services, ahead of what’s set to be an extremely busy transfer window for the club.
Central-defender Naldo displayed his talents first-hand to Manchester United in this season’s Champions League, as he scored a brace in Wolfsburg’s 3-2 victory over the Red Devils in the group stage, which sent United crashing out of the competition.
That performance is said to have impressed Manchester United and the 33-year-old left the door open for a transfer in the summer.
“Manchester United is a great club and I’m honoured by their interest. However I’m fine and I feel at ease here. So now I think only to end of the season.”
It would be a peculiar transfer for Manchester United to complete though, given his age, and United would only get a few years of service from the South American. As such, our landlord believes a move would be pointless.
