Manchester United are in desperate need of a world class striker for next season and it seems like the fans in the Transfer Tavern will get exactly what they’re asking for.
French outlet Mercato 365 states it’s expected Manchester United will complete a £39m deal to bring Edinson Cavani to Old Trafford this summer from Paris Saint-Germain, ending the Uruguayan’s three-year spell in Ligue 1.
PSG, fresh from storming to another Ligue 1 title and casting an eye on a Champions League quarter-final clash with Manchester City, are likely to complete a major summer overhaul in the close season with Cavani following Zlatan Ibrahimovic out of the exit door.
During his time in Paris, Cavani has had to deal with being pushed out wide and the forward has made no secret of his desire to be a leading striker once again. His record speaks for itself, with a phenomenal 179 goals across the past six seasons.
His lowest tally in that run was 25 goals, which is still an impressive figure, and his reliability in front of goal is something Manchester United sorely need- so completing a deal certainly seems to be a sensible move.
