Man United eye swoop for Luke Shaw replacement

shawManchester United fans are discussing reports that suggest Louis Van Gaal will dip into the transfer market to bolster his defence in January, to relieve injury concerns.

The Sunday Mirror states that Wolfsburg’s Ricardo Rodriguez is the latest player to be scouted, with United keen to replace the injured Luke Shaw.

Shaw may not feature again until the back-end of the season following a horrific double leg-break sustained in the opening Champions League group clash with PSV Eindhoven, which ended in defeat.

Wolfsburg’s 23-year-old Rodriguez is seen as an ideal signing to bolster the squad for the Premier League title chase, which took a positive turn this weekend as defeats for Arsenal and Manchester City saw United leapfrog their title rivals.

United now turn their attentions to a Champions League rematch with PSV, this time at Old Trafford, where Van Gaal has urged supporters not to blame Hector Moreno for Shaw’s injury, as his challenge led to the lengthy sideline spell for the England international.
