Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have been left wondering why top-class players seem to leave their club so regularly, after another potential return was reported.
Fresh from spending a world-record fee of £89m to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford last summer, The Mirror reports Jose Mourinho is keen to splash the cash and bring Michael Keane back to the club.
Keane has excelled with Burnley this season, earning himself a debut with Gareth Southgate’s England squad, and is a top-target for a host of Premier League sides this summer – including Ronald Koeman’s Everton.
However, with Manchester United eyeing further defensive changes to improve their line, Mourinho is considering bringing Keane back to Old Trafford and utilising the youngster as a first-choice defender alongside Ivorian ace Eric Bailly.
United would have to pay a huge amount of around £30m to secure Keane this summer, significantly higher than the £2.5m they sold him for, but our landlord believes it would be a wise move on Jose Mourinho’s part.
Our landlord predicts there will be a fierce battle for the 24-year-old’s signature this summer, with a host of top sides keen.
