The Manchester United fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are still raising a glass to new addition Victor Lindelof, however, they may have more Portuguese imports to toast in the coming weeks.
That’s because, according to reports from The Mirror, the Europa League winners are ready to head back to Benfica in order to land a second deal for a player Jose Mourinho is supposedly quite fond of.
Brazilian midfielder Anderson Talisca, who spent last season on-loan with Turkish outfit Besiktas scoring 17 goals in all competitions, has revealed that the United boss is a big fan of his, if he does say so himself.
“I’ve had a good season, and Mourinho has a love [for me] that exists, I will not lie,” said the 23-year-old, before adding that it’d be a dream to link up with the former Chelsea and Porto manager.
“It’s a dream, something that all players want. As I said, his love is old and I like his work. He’s a great coach and I hope everything works out.”
While Talisca is not the biggest of names being linked with United this summer, our landlord reckons this could be a long-term squad building deal which the club are looking to pull off.
Having failed to compete with rivals in the Premier League last season Mourinho will need a squad capable of mounting a title challenge, whilst also battling in the Champions League, for which he’ll need depth.
