Manchester United fans have been getting itchy under the collar in the Transfer Tavern as they await official confirmation of their managerial stance and the latest news hasn’t helped the situation at all.
Metro quotes a close friend of Jose Mourinho, the favourite to succeed Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United, has having ‘no idea’ of where his next managerial position will be. Charlie Stillitano said:
‘I talk to Jose Mourinho a lot and I have no idea where he’s going. I don’t think he has any idea.’
Mourinho has been touted with a move to Old Trafford ever since mid-December, when his axe at Chelsea coincided with an awful run of form for the Red Devils, but United did not make a swift move and have kept faith in the Dutchman.
It seems that faith was relatively well placed as Van Gaal can still achieve the minimum objective of a top-four finish, although he requires a favour from Swansea City weekend, and there’s the chance of a first trophy since the Sir Alex Ferguson era if United over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final.
However, questions still surround the long-term future of the former Netherlands boss and fans have been hoping for an easy transition, although it’s becoming abundantly clear that won’t occur.
United fans, will it be a mistake to head into next season with Van Gaal in charge? Let us know in the comments below!
