Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have made it abundantly clear that they expect major improvements from their side this summer, with comments that our barmaids are fed-up of hearing.
The Daily Express gives our punters a boost this morning though, as they state Manchester United are going toe-to-toe with Real Madrid to capture Wolfsburg full-back Ricardo Rodriguez.
Swiss international Rodriguez has shone in the Bundesliga since moving to Wolfsburg from FC Zurich in 2013 and his performances this season, where the German side knocked United out of the Champions League, have caught the eye.
Rodriguez’ signature won’t come cheap though as SportBild state he has a release clause of £23m, though that’s a figure neither United or Real Madrid should have a problem matching.
United’s search for a left-back has rumbled on since Luke Shaw suffered a devastating leg break at the beginning of the season, though he is approaching a return and could still make the plane for England’s European Championship campaign.
Our landlord feels United have better areas to spend this money and that pursuing Rodriguez is a wast of valuable resources, as he believes Luke Shaw will become a star at Old Trafford.
United fans, do you need a left-back? Let us know in the comments below!
