Man United given boost in chase of Southampton star

maneeeeeManchester United fans were full of celebration in the Transfer Tavern today after their victory against Swansea City yesterday and they’ve ordered in a fresh round after being informed of positive reports on the transfer front.

The Daily Mail suggests Manchester United’s hopes of signing Sadio Mane from Southampton have been bolstered after the Senegalese international was slammed after arriving late to a team meeting.

Mane was subsequently dropped for the 1-0 defeat to Norwich City yesterday and the future of the 23-year-old has been thrown into doubt, opening the door for Louis Van Gaal to make a swoop.

United have held long-term interest in Mane and will be monitoring the situation, with it clear that the Red Devils need to bolster their attacking options if they are to emerge successful in their quest to clinch a Champions League spot.

Ronald Koeman criticised the player in the aftermath of Southampton’s narrow defeat yesterday, as he told reporters after the game:

‘We had a different line-up for the game. He was one of the 11 players to start, but we have rules in the team. He has made a big mistake.’

‘He came two hours late to our last meeting. That’s impossible. Everyone knows that we have sanctions and you don’t start. Then you have to make changes in the team, you have to make changes in set pieces and everything.’

United fans in the bar believe this situation has increased their chances of landing the talented attacker but are concerned by his clear lack of discipline.
