Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern were loudly jumping up and down this evening, though it wasn’t because their dishes on curry night were too spicy for their taste-buds to handle.
Spanish football insider Guillem Balague has handed a massive boost to Manchester United, as he’s claimed that Barcelona may need to offload one of their big-names.
Barcelona, undoubtedly the biggest side in world football, are struggling with financial issues. With the wages of golden trio Neymar, Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez claiming a massive 73% of the Spanish giants’ revenue.
As such, Balague is quoted by Metro as stating one of the three could be forced to leave- which hands United a boost in their quest to land Brazilian sensation Neymar.
‘Barcelona cannot afford to give new contracts to Lionel Messi, [Luis] Suarez and Neymar as it stands – financially they do not have the power to do so,’
‘They need to bring a lot of money in, if they do that they will be able to keep them, but if they don’t they may have to get rid of one. That’s why Neymar keeps leaving the door open for United.’
However, there’s no guarantees that Neymar would be the player offloaded as the Ballon D’Or nominee is touted to become one of the greatest footballers in the world- and Barcelona won’t want to lose their star.
Our landlord believes the odds are still stacked against United, though he admits this news is promising.
