Man United inching closer to deal for 69-goal striker, player wants Old Trafford move

CavaniManchester United supporting punters here in the Transfer Tavern nearly choked on their peanuts after reading the news in L’Equipe (via the Telegraph) – with the media outlet suggesting that United have been given the ‘green light’ to secure a deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani in the summer, with the player himself preferring a move to Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old forward has notched 69 goals since he arrived at the Ligue 1 outfit from Napoli in 2013, and it seems that he is starting to get annoyed at forever being in Zlatan Ibrahomovic’s shadow.

Our resident Manchester United fans here in the Tavern feel this would be an excellent bit of business for Louis van Gaal and his team, but do have their reservations about his age, because at the age of 28, he is undoubtedly reaching the latter stages of his playing career.

Our landlord here in the Tavern feels the 6ft striker is one of the most lethal finishers in world football, but worries United would be signing the player at the wrong stage of his career, as his best days are behind him!

United are in desperate need of some new attacking talent in this January window, and most of the punters here in the Tavern wish LVG could secure a deal for Cavani now, rather than in the summer!

Man United fans….. Could you envisage seeing Cavani at Old Trafford? Is he good enough? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!
